To cut efficiently, you need a high-quality MARTOR handle and the right quality blade. With us, both are perfectly matched. What's more, our blades are very sharp, so you can cut through even better. Welcome to our world of blades, with around 150 blades in eleven categories.

Sharp quality blades

Why are MARTOR blades so sharp? Because only a sharp blade is a safe blade. A blunt blade is much more likely to slip. You also have to use unnecessary force when using the cutting edge. This not only costs you time, it also tires you out. The risk of accidents also increases. Our professional blades therefore make you safer and more efficient. But remember to always turn the blade over in good time or replace it completely. With MARTOR knives, this usually takes just a few seconds.

Accident prevention in the handle

At MARTOR, accident prevention comes from the handle! That's because it contains safety technology that protects you from coming into contact with the sharp blade. All of this is GS-certified. Two examples: the blade is so securely shielded that you cannot touch it. Or, as shown here, it retracts into the handle at lightning speed as soon as you have finished cutting. Then you release it again and make the next cut. You can find out exactly which blade fits which cutting tool in our product section.

Bladecharacteristics

Most of our quality blades are made of carbon steel. This material combines hardness, toughness and durability. Our steel blades can withstand mechanical stress as well as high and fluctuating temperatures, which is the basis for a longer service life. In addition, our steel blades are extremely sharp, especially at the beginning. This has several advantages: less effort is required by the user and cuts are more precise on and through the material.

Carbon steel can be refined by adding an alloy that forms a protective layer on the blade surface. Chromium is particularly commonly used for this purpose. Our stainless steel blades are particularly recommended for use in damp or chemical cutting environments and in food preparation. All our metal detectable safety knives are equipped with stainless steel blades. They are not only corrosion-resistant, but also very durable and long-lasting. In terms of extreme sharpness, they are slightly inferior to steel blades, as stainless steels cannot be ground to the same degree of sharpness.

Our ceramic blades are made of high-quality zirconium oxide, an extremely hard, white to ivory-coloured ceramic material. They last approximately 12 times longer than a comparable steel blade. This means that the very high initial sharpness is retained for a particularly long period of time. Our ceramic blades are completely corrosion-free, non-conductive, non-magnetic, non-oiled and chemically stable. Ideal for cutting work even in damp and chemical environments, in contact with food or in areas sensitive to electronics and at risk of explosion. But be careful: ceramic blades can break if subjected to excessive lateral pressure or if dropped.

When we talk about TiN-coated, titanium nitride comes into play. This gold-coloured hard material reduces blade wear and increases service life by two to four times. With our TiN-coated steel and stainless steel blades, the extra protection applies to the cutting edge. This makes it ideal for increased cutting speeds over a longer period of time, which is more important when cutting foil than cardboard.

Although of secondary importance in our range of blades, here is a brief explanation. "Teflon" is a plastic composed of the elements carbon and fluorine. The Teflon coating ensures a particularly smooth blade surface, so that virtually no foreign matter sticks to it. What's more, the frictional resistance of the cutting edge is reduced, allowing the blade to glide more easily through the material.

Whether trapezoid blade, rounded tip hooked blade or rectangular blade: at MARTOR, you will find this safety feature in virtually all blade families. If the blade tip is rounded, you are better protected against puncture wounds. This applies not only when cutting, but also when blade changing. The cutting edge is as sharp as ever, and piercing into the cutting material continues to be possible without any problems.

Our plastic-coated blades are used in various SECUMAX knives. We also refer to these as blade heads. The plastic not only stabilises the blade, it also shields the cutting edge from the outside. The result: perfect user and product protection. You can also feel the added safety when blade changing. Instead of bare metal, you only touch the plastic with your fingers, so nothing can happen.

single-use blades have a continuous cutting edge. You cannot turn the blade over and reuse it to get a second cutting egde. Once the blade is worn out, you have to replace it. This applies, for example, to our polystyrene blades, graphic blades, scalpel blades and ironing blades (which are used in scrapers).

Our trapezoid blades and almost all hooked blades are among the blades that can be used twice. You can flip them over and reinsert them into the handle in just a few seconds. Then you can cut with a fresh cutting edge, just like new. Our SECUMAX disposable knives are a special feature. The blade head is permanently attached, but also has two cutting egdes. Simply flip the handle in your hand. This also doubles the service life of the blade.

The fourfold usability is a special feature of our rectangular industrial blades. It's logical: rectangular = four corners that you can use to cut one after the other. We have also made blade turning, which is similar to blade changing, as easy and safe as possible. Therefore, before you finally dispose of a blade, first check whether you have used all four available cutting egdes. It pays off for you and your company.

The blade is sharpened on one side only, the other side is flat. Single-sided sharpened blades show their strengths when it comes to particularly precise cuts through soft, thin material. They play a minor role in our range. The most prominent exception is our STYROPOR BLADE NO. 379, which, however, with its distinctive (single-sided) serrated edge, is particularly recommended for thicker material.

In over 95% of cases, our cutting tools are equipped with quality blades that are ground on both sides. This is the standard that has proven itself. The 2-sided ground-edge gives the blade a symmetrical cutting edge on both sides. The balanced sharpness goes hand in hand with durability and a wider range of applications. As we primarily offer high-performance knives for industrial, craft and other professional purposes, the universally applicable blade with 2-sided ground-edge is the tool of choice.

Some of our double-sided ground blades also feature a wide grind. This quality feature is particularly beneficial for our trapezoid blades. However, our ceramic blades and some of our industrial blades are also designed in this way. The wide grind is particularly efficient for blades with a blade thickness between 0.40 and 0.65 mm. Because the cutting edges are particularly flat and pointed over a larger area, the material resistance during cutting is lower and the work is easier. The initial sharpness is also extremely high.

The serrated edge is reserved for our single-sided blades. The STYROPORKLINGE NR. 379, which is used in the SECUNORM 380 and SECUBASE 383, is particularly noteworthy here. With its serrated cutting edge, it is particularly well suited for cutting soft and thicker materials. The best example is foam. However, even hard or fibrous materials can be cut as if with a particularly sharp "bread knife".

We offer a small range of rectangular industrial blades. With an extra-thin sharp blade, you only need to apply a little force, as material displacement during cutting is particularly low. However, our safety knives are designed for high-performance cutting. Blades with a thickness of less than 0.20 mm break more quickly, especially when subjected to lateral stress. For this reason, we only offer extra-thin blades pre-mounted in a few SECUMAX specialist models.

Here too, rectangular blades are overrepresented: industrial blades with this blade thickness are used in various MARTOR box openers, while similarly thin bow blades are used in our scrapers. Resilience, cutting performance and precision are already very well balanced, especially with the 0.30 mm blades. Our best-selling blade head, the SECUMAX BLADE NO. 3550, also belongs to this category.

At around 40%, blades of this thickness make up our largest segment. The range is similarly large, from small graphic blades to industrial blades and extra-large polystyrene blades. Our flexible polystyrene blades, which are exposed to the toughest applications, particularly highlight the robustness of this blade category. Powerful cuts through solid materials are also possible with other models, such as the SECUMAX BLADE NO. 3448 or INDUSTRIAL BLADE NO. 92.

Approximately 25% of our blades fall into this category, which stands for maximum stability and durability. Our most popular trapezoid blades and hooked blades are particularly noteworthy here, which are used in power safety knives such as the SECUPRO 625 or the SECUNORM 500. Or the LARGE SPECIAL BLADE NO. 160060, which assists the SECUNORM 610 XDR in cutting all kinds of bags and in rustic manual cutting jobs. We also combine the larger blade thicknesses with extreme sharpness, so that the effort required is kept to a minimum.

Blades with a thickness of over 0.70 mm are an exception in our range. Nevertheless, they do of course have their uses, for example as 360° rotating blades for deburring or as large special blades. Most of the matching MARTOR handles are now archived. Nevertheless, it is important to us to ensure that you can still obtain spare parts. Blades of this thickness are extremely robust and designed for intensive use.

Some of our industrial blades and graphic blades can be found here, as well as 360° blades and even trapezoid blades. The short length of the industrial blades and trapezoid blades – when mounted – goes hand in hand with shallow cutting depths. With the graphic blades and 360° rotating blades, their compactness helps with precise positioning.

At around 40%, this is the largest group among MARTOR quality blades. Most of our rectangular blades, such as industrial blades and ironing blades, are in this category, as well as numerous graphic blades and scalpel blades. Precision and cutting depth are well balanced.

The second largest group within our blade range – and a domain of our trapezoid blades. However, this range also includes some longer scalpel blades. The greater length is accompanied by greater blade thickness. All in all, this is a large selection of blades for greater cutting depths and harder applications.

Some of our long polystyrene blades are shown here, along with various large special blades and scraper blades. What they all have in common is that, when installed, they enable large cutting depths or scraping widths.

If you are looking for maximum cutting depth, these are the blades for you: STYROPORKLINGE NR. 79 and STYROPORKLINGE NR. 379 with serrated edges are over 100 mm long. There are also a number of special blades that are used in machines, for example.
