The topic of sustainability is always present at the Solingen-based market leader. One of the goals of our sustainability strategy is to convert or newly develop safety knives made from recycled plastic. To this end, we use the high-quality recycled material "Technyl4Earth" from DOMO Chemicals.

More and more knives made from recycled materials

As a retailer, user or end customer, MARTOR currently offers you a choice of nine sustainable safety knives, which are available in 16 different versions (i.e. with different installed blades). Together, they form the ECO by MARTOR product family and are marked with a green, leaf-like label in our media.

We started with the SECUMAX 350 SE, whose black handle is made from 98% recycled plastic. This allows us to offer you a "green alternative" to our best-selling SECUMAX 350. From the outset, we also paid particular attention to our disposable knives. The SECUMAX 148 was launched as an ECO by MARTOR product, and the SECUMAX 145 and SECUMAX 150 were converted shortly afterwards. The product carbon footprint of these safety knives was reduced by up to 80%.

Sustainable innovations

And the journey continues. The latest additions to the ECO by MARTOR family are the innovative SECUMAX 370 and the popular SECUNORM 175 box cutter. What makes the SECUNORM 175 special is that, for the first time, not only the black handle is made of sustainable plastic, but all the blue components are too. In addition, the blade heads for the SECUMAX 350 and SECUMAX 370 are now coated with recycled plastic.

Long-lasting quality

But sustainability is not just about the materials used. Apart from disposable knives, our professional cutting tools are designed for maximum performance over a very long period of time. Our safety knives made of aluminium, steel and zinc in particular set new standards in this regard. The handles made of glass fibre reinforced and/or recycled plastic are also known for their durability. What's more, blade changing is particularly easy: in just a few moments, you'll be cutting like new again. This means you can continue to use the same handle indefinitely.

Regional procurement

And there is another factor that directly protects the environment: approximately 85% of our components come from the EU, and around 75% from Germany. We source around two-thirds of all parts from within a radius of just 250 km. This means we work with excellent suppliers who are located as close as possible. This also secures our supply chains.
