MARTOR tests its cutting tools as early as the development stage. In its in-house testing facility, prototypes, pre-production products, and subsequent production models are examined, compared with other solutions, and optimized until they meet MARTOR’s high standards.

The Test Workshop is MARTOR's in-house testing laboratory. There, quality experts examine the safety features, load-bearing capacity, service life, cutting performance, and durability of knives, blades, and Accessories under controlled conditions.

Yes. The test stations are modeled after the procedures used by leading testing institutes. In some cases, the products are subjected to even higher or longer-lasting stresses in-house to identify additional opportunities for optimization.

On a special endurance test stand, safety-critical components are actuated at a high frequency over an extended period of time. In the case of the SECUPRO 625, for example, tests are conducted to verify that the Fully automatic blade retraction mechanism continues to operate reliably even after prolonged use.

Yes. In drop tests, the cutting tools are repeatedly dropped from specified heights onto a hard surface. The tools are then inspected to determine whether any components have been damaged or deformed and whether the controls and safety features continue to function properly.

In its tests, MARTOR cuts through hundreds of meters of various materials while measuring the force required. This allows the company to determine how long a blade retains its sharpness and where cutting performance can be further improved.

Yes. In the climate chamber, cutting tools are exposed to extremely high and low temperatures and then tested again. Drop tests are also conducted using heated or heavily chilled products.

During stress tests, forces from various directions act on the entire tool. MARTOR examines both vertical and horizontal loads to assess the stability of the handle, blade mount, and other components.

Yes. Not only knives and blades, but also accessories are subjected to endurance testing. One example is the Holster 610 XDR, whose durability is tested on a multifunctional endurance test bench.

Among other partners, MARTOR collaborates with VPA Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH in Remscheid, which specializes in testing hand tools. Its testing procedures also served as a guide in setting up MARTOR’s in-house testing workshop.

GS stands for “Certified Safety.” For MARTOR products bearing this designation, an independent testing agency confirms that the product meets the relevant safety requirements and that the manufacturing process is regularly monitored.

The independent Institute for Health and Ergonomics in Nuremberg (IGR) has rated numerous MARTOR products as ergonomic. MARTOR is the first manufacturer of utility knives whose products have received such a rating from the institute.

In addition to the design of a safety knife, intuitive operation, the amount of force required, and how the knife performs during actual work play a role. In a practical test lasting several weeks, MARTOR knives were used by employees at various companies in their day-to-day work.
