Most people around the world still cut with a conventional cutters at work. The standard: snap-off blade, no safety feature. It is understandable that we at MARTOR want to change this. This includes raising global awareness that safe cutters also exist. We call them "safety knives".
Cutters "in safe"
To provide a comprehensive overview of the topic of "cutters – safe cutters – safety knives", we travelled to the tranquil village of Rinkerode, south of Münster in Westphalia. This is where Bauforum24 is based, a successful YouTube platform with almost 400,000 subscribers and a fully equipped workshop that doubles as a film studio. With Bauforum24, managing director André Brockschmidt offers a channel that appeals to people with practical experience and those with a special interest in tools, providing them with excellent entertainment.
Expert talk on professional cutting
Our common goal was to film a Bauforum24 Expert Talk on professional cutting edge. The result: a 107-minute, extremely varied video in which André and our Sales Manager D/A/CH Holger Schmalz provide clear answers to many open questions:
- What distinguishes cutters from safety knives?
- How can I cut particularly efficiently?
- What mistakes should you avoid at all costs when using the cutting edge?
- Which safety knives should I use for which cutting applications?
- What safety technologies are available?

Despite the length of the video, the response to its release has been overwhelming from the outset. It now has well over 100,000 views, nearly 3,000 likes and over 1,300 almost exclusively positive comments. The most liked comment reads as follows:
"You spend years tinkering with these things, and then MARTOR comes along and shows you how incredibly well thought-out and safe they can be. Thank you for this informative video."
From practice for practice
For him, as for countless other viewers, it is a tutorial full of eye-opening moments. Scenes such as these are extremely well thought out, confident and instructive:
- If you're not careful, only a knife with a safety feature will help you.
- If you want to protect your packaged goods, avoid using long open blades.
- Replace the snap-off blade with a non-segmented, more stable blade.
- Hold your safety knives at an angle, and you will only need a quarter of the usual force.
- Tension the film to get through even better.
- Use a serrated blade for foam and polystyrene.
- Try out the safety scissors that have a cutting edge – except yourself.
- MARTOR even has a special tool for opening cartridges.
- And in general: it pays to rely on reliable quality made in Germany.
That's all we're going to reveal! It's best to take a look for yourself... Have fun and enjoy discovering lots of exciting things!
