challenge
Brillux is a leading German paint and varnish manufacturer and a fifth-generation family business. It employs over 2,500 people at its headquarters in Münster and several other locations. The company was looking for cutting solutions for the bagged goods that are opened every day, something that did not yet exist: safety knives that are particularly durable and are not slowed down by dusty, grainy and sticky substances.
solution
The SECUNORM 610 XDR offers exactly the features you are looking for. XDR stands for "eXtra Dirt Resistant". The Brillux specialists at the Unna site were among the first to use the innovative safety knives in real-world operations. This means that single and multi-layer bags made of film and/or paper can be opened safely and quickly and emptied into the hoppers at the bag feeding station. Especially in the beginning, our MARTOR cutting experts were on hand to provide tips on particularly efficient handling.
It quickly became apparent that the "XDR" quality seal is no exaggeration – quite the contrary. Whether powdered colour pigments and binding agents or granular additives and resins – no matter what was poured onto the knife handle and blade, the SECUNORM 610 XDR remained fully functional.
And the key feature: as soon as the user had finished cutting, the blade could be retracted into the handle. Unlike conventional cutters with fixed blades, this eliminated the risk of injury.
