For the region and nature: 900 trees planted in Gräfrath Forest

For MARTOR, sustainability and regional commitment are not just lip service, but actively practised responsibility. The recent planting campaign was preceded by a donation of more than 14,000 trees from our shareholder Sonja Hendricks – all intended for a forest area just under 2 km from MARTOR's headquarters, which was in urgent need of reforestation.

On 21 February 2025, it was time to plant the first 900 trees from the donation pot. Twenty-five MARTOR volunteers quickly came forward, including Sonja Hendricks and our two managing directors, Daniel Otto and Gregor Langer, to actively support district forester Louis Altinkamis and his team. And lo and behold, after just a few hours, 500 Norway maple and 400 chestnut seedlings had been planted in neat rows.

The work was not easy, especially on the hillside, but it was a lot of fun. The pleasant spring weather added to the enjoyment. We would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and are proud to be able to make a positive contribution as a team to preserving our environment, nature and quality of life here locally.

»This forest is the place where I grew up as a child. It is very important to me to play an active role in reforestation and give something back.«
