THREE MAJOR PRODUCT AWARDS FOR THE SECUMAX 370

Published on09/07/2026

The SECUMAX 370 safety knife from MARTOR has recently received three awards: Following the German Innovation Award 2026, the product has now also been named a “Red Dot Winner” at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026 and received the BSIF Product Innovation Award 2026 in the “Safety Product (Non-PPE)” category.

THREE PRICES, ONE CONCEPT

These three prestigious awards recognize a safety knife that fills a specific gap in the market: The SECUMAX 370 combines the high level of safety offered by a concealed blade with a cutting depth that is unusually deep for this safety class. It was developed for applications where conventional safety knives with concealed blades have often reached their limits—such as when cutting thicker materials.

INNOVATION FOR LOGISTICS AND GOODS RECEIVING

The German Innovation Award 2026, presented by the German Design Council, honored the SECUMAX 370 in the category “Excellence in Business to Business: Logistics & Infrastructure.” In its statement, the jury emphasized that safely and efficiently cutting thicker cardboard boxes in logistics and goods receiving operations is a significant challenge. The SECUMAX 370 offers a compelling solution to this challenge, as it is the first GS-certified safety knife with a concealed blade to enable a cutting depth of up to 10 mm. It thus combines the highest safety standards with flexible adaptation to various cutting tasks. The ergonomically designed handle made of recycled plastic was also singled out for praise. The award ceremony for the German Innovation Award 2026 took place on May 12, 20026, at the DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum in Berlin.

STURDY DESIGN, EASY TO USE

The Red Dot jury also praised the product’s design and functional quality. It summed up the SECUMAX 370’s strengths as follows: “The SECUMAX 370 stands out with its robust design, high-contrast functional elements, and a safety concept that achieves greater cutting depths in a controlled manner.” The Red Dot Gala and Designers’ Night on July 7, 2026, in Essen provided the festive setting.

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION

The third award comes from the United Kingdom and was presented in Coventry in early July: MARTOR UK had entered the SECUMAX 370 in the Safety & Health Excellence Awards and won the BSIF Product Innovation Award 2026 in the “Safety Product (Non-PPE)” category. The award underscores the product’s international significance in the field of occupational safety. The British Safety Industry Federation has officially named MARTOR / SECUMAX 370 as the winner of the corresponding safety product category.

SAFETY AS A DESIGN CHALLENGE

“We are very pleased about this triple recognition,” says Sylke Wendt, Head of Product Management at MARTOR. “The SECUMAX 370 demonstrates that well-thought-out design in safety knives means much more than just aesthetics. It’s about innovation, ergonomics, material selection, ease of use—and, above all, workplace safety in everyday use.”

A key feature of the SECUMAX 370 is its adjustable cutting depth. Using a slider on both sides, the cutting depth can be adjusted from 6 to up to 10 mm. At the same time, the shielded blade protects not only the user but also the contents inside the package.

FUNCTIONAL DESIGN, SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL CHOICES

In terms of design, the knife clearly reflects its function. The black handle and the bright blue controls create striking contrasts and allow for intuitive use. The slider can be used by both right and left handers. The glass fibre reinforced handle is made primarily from recycled plastic and combines durable product quality with sustainable use of materials.

SAFE CUTTING MADE IN GERMANY

With the SECUMAX 370, MARTOR is expanding its product line with a safety knife that combines safety and cutting performance in a new way. The three awards—the German Innovation Award 2026, the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026, and the BSIF Product Innovation Award 2026—confirm the Solingen-based company’s commitment to developing professional cutting solutions that are safe, efficient, and thoughtfully designed—solutions that have never been seen before.

MARTOR thus once again stands for “Safe cutting made in Germany”: safety knives developed based on real-world experience that improve specific work processes and set international standards.
